My most recent work. This was inspired from a watercolor I did while I was with my son Walter in New York. It's from his room on the 18th floor at Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island. His room faced the Long Island Sound and Connecticut. On many nights the sunsets were amazing from his window. 36" X 48" Acrylic on canvas. Still a work in progress.
This was painted around the time my son Walter died. He died on December 4th. He was injured in a car accident and spent almost two years in hospitals and nursing homes on Long Island. We prayed the 23rd Psalm almost every day; or I did and he would say amen at the end. He endured so much with all the operations and setbacks and never once complained. I am so thankful I was with him almost daily during this ordeal and for my oldest son Richard and friends who helped and supported us with their love and prayers. God was a faithful protector and friend through it all.
I entered the annual Guild Hall Clothesline Art Sale in East Hampton. It's a nice venue for local artists to show off their work. I sold this one titled "Hampton Summer".
I've had to put aside painting for more than a year. My son Walter was in a car accident in New York in January 2017. I have spent almost every day by his side. To me it was a gift from God to be with him in New York. I painted this while home for a few days in North Carolina. I worked on this while visiting with my friend Kathy Ammon who also has a child who is very ill with Lyme's disease. how great t is to have friends who you can encourage and can be encouraged by them.
Life is so fragile. You become more aware of this when a loved one is so ill.
Anyway this was my first painting in many months, I like it.
"House Blessing" is one of my favorite paintings. It recently sold to a collector in the Raleigh area. The colors are vibrant yellows and periwinkle blues. Inscribed in pencil is the Priestly Blessing from the book of Numbers 6:22-27.
It's always a good day when an artist sells one of their paintings. This painting is the first of a series of ongoing angel subjects. It was sold to a New York collector.
Sold my painting, "House and Dove" to an art patron out West. It's always a good feeling when I sell my work.
This is a work still in progress. It's a large canvas 36 x 36" . Merry Christmas to my friends who visit this blog, and I wish you all great peace in your hearts and homes throughout this year. May God bless you.
