The Studio in Apex, North Carolina is up and running. The site is a place of community where people can create and have fun. There will be classes for all kinds of art related activities. I am one of the resident artists there and I will also be one of the art instructors. Beautiful and powerful art is going to be created in this place. It's a dream come true for me.

The Studio
Caroline Hohenrath Acrylic on canvas, 30" x 40" "The Studio" is a place that is being built to strengthen and inspire community by providing a space where people have access to resources and instruction for the exploration of creativity. Sounds a bit vague, however I will be teaching art at this brand new site. My first class, titled "Celebrate Your Creative Self" will offer six sessions in painting. Each class will challenge us to explore new techniques which will give the artist skills that will last them a lifetime. I'm excited to be a part of this new resource. Classes will begin in August 2016. Star Gazing In Colorado
Caroline Hohenrath This summer I visited some old friends, Don and Judy Miles in Colorado. I flew into Denver and we all went to Camp Mountain Glory in Larkspur and heard Malcom Smith speak on the subject of "Joy". From there we rode over the Rockies to Montrose near the San Juan Mountain range. It was the nicest week as I star gazed at the wonderful Colorado night sky and we surveyed the moon through a ready-made telescope. I am assembling a group of paintings that will be on exhibit at Artspace in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm excited that they invited me to do this. I will let you know how it goes.
Above is a painting I recently finished titled "American Landscape Memorial", which will be on exhibit in the corridors at Artspace. Henhouse

Summer Shoreline Outer Banks .
The easel I painted "Summer Shoreline Outer Banks" on was a surprise, a great surprise gift from my artist friend Amy Feltzer. She said she had it for about twenty years and that it was from upstate N.Y. I have enjoyed working on it ever since she hauled it, and it's heavy, up three flights of stairs to my apartment. What an extraordinary and generous friend she is. The Bride The Bride by Caroline Hohenrath
Acrylic on canvas 22" x 28" 600.00 I have always been drawn to the simple and naïve style of folk art. It's a form of painting I enjoy the most. The colors of this work are rich and bold. The tree takes center stage in this work, depicting a strong and powerful presence, seemingly moving and flowing gracefully. The bride stands close by in a green pasture, and watches and waits for her beloved to come. Sold "Lavender Trees" was painted over a work I created soon after I moved to North Carolina from New York a few years ago. It is a landscape painted in acrylic. The "Priestly Blessing" from Numbers 6: 24-26 was etched into the original painting. And with the new work that covers over it, that scripture is embedded into this one as well, like a hidden treasure. The painting is very soft with beautiful variations of greens, blues, pinks and corals. It's one of my favorites because its so calming and peaceful. Acrylic on canvas, unframed, 29 1/2" x 39 1/2". 1200.00
When you comb through decorating books and magazines, you will find that one of the key elements that make up a beautiful room are the paintings or artwork. These elements can pull a color scheme together, or simply stand alone to be an exciting force of a collectors unique style. Art enhances our everyday lives with color and form and ignites our senses through great design. No matter what culture or economic background your are from, a beautiful object of art should bring a leap of joy to your heart. "Home Blessing", this was a wedding gift I recently painted. It is acrylic, pencil, collage and cold wax mediums on canvas.
